ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: June 2, 2009
Action Agenda
Item No. q- - O
SUBJECT: Contract Renewal with Dr. Robert E. Dupuis for Pharmacy Services for Health
Department
DEPARTMENT: Health PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No
ATTACHMENT(S):
Contract
Business Associate Agreement
INFORMATION CONTACT:
Rosemary Summers, 245-2411
PURPOSE: To consider approving the contract renewal with Dr. Robert E. Dupuis for pharmacy
services for the Health Department.
BACKGROUND: For the past eight years the department has contracted with an individual
pharmacist to provide pharmacy services for the department. This will be the seventh year of
contracting with the same pharmacist, Dr. Robert E. Dupuis. The contract for FY 2009-2010 is
the same amount as last year -- $12,036 for the fiscal year. Pharmacy services last year
enabled the Health Department to provide pharmaceutical services to over 5,500 patients seen
in one of the department's clinical services. The pharmacist also consults with the Health
Department regarding public health preparedness dispensing sites and is available on-site if
needed during a communicable disease outbreak. The pharmacist also provides training to
public health nurses regarding pharmacy laws and dispensing procedures.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The total cost of the contract is $12,036 for the fiscal year. This covers
approximately 350 hours of on-site pharmacy services. The $12,036 is included in the
recommended Health Department budget.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the contract
renewal and authorize the Chair to sign, subject to the approval of the 2009-2010 Budget.
