and will serve to cover the 25% local match. if the County is awarded the grant, the County <br />would have $x,004,004 of equipmenfi wifih no addifiional outlay from whafi is already budgefied. <br />The second project is the purchase and installation of a workstation featuring telephone, <br />Computer Aided Dispatch and a radio~console to implement interoperability for County <br />Emergency Gperations Center EGC}. Adding this workstation to the EGC allows the staff of <br />the Center fio communicate more efficiently during major emergencies and county-wide <br />disasfiers. The system is estimated at $34,004 and requires a $7,540 local match that would <br />come from monies already allocated fio up-fit fihe new EGC afi the Meadowlands facility. <br />z <br />The final project under this grant application would aim fio improve infieroperable radio signal <br />enhancement for paor coverage area in eastern Chapel Hill in the Eastgafie Area, including the <br />Easfigafie Shopping Center. This area has historically represented an area of low signal strength <br />that limits communications from responder fio responder and from responder fio the <br />communications center. Limited communications jeopardizes the safety of responders and <br />inhibits the ability of responders fio meek the needs of the populafiion. Staff esfiimates the cost of <br />fihis project to be $~ 50,404, requiring a $37,540 local match. Sufficient funds have been <br />requested in the capital budget for the next two years to cover the local match. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is a 25% local cash match requirement under this grant program. <br />There is adequate funding allotted in the 2047-08 and 240809 budget to adequately account for <br />the local match as outlined above. <br />~ECOMMENDATIaN~S}: The Manager recommends that the Soard authorize the Division of <br />Emergency Services fio apply for fihe 244?"
