~ 9'~ <br />The County Manager presented a lief of dates that could be <br />chosen as future dates of tax lien sales. He advised the Board <br />tY§at this year's tax notice bore the date of June 7th. <br />Discussion ensued <br />MEMORAN-UM---February 2, 1976 <br />To: Orange County Board of Commissioners <br />From: Ortense C. Dickson, Orange County Tax Collector <br />Subject: Tax Lidn Sale <br />On the first Monday in February of each year,~county <br />tax collectors are required to report to the govern- <br />ing body the total amount of unpaid taxes for the <br />currant fiscal year that are liens or. real property. <br />Dur unpaid taffies an real property $690,301.67 <br />County Tax Lien Sales shall be held on first Monday in <br />March, April, May or June. <br />In the past we have held our sale in June of each year: <br />If this is agreeable, the following dates can be set: <br />Dates for advertising: .May 6 <br />May 13 <br />Mays= 20 <br />May 27 <br />Date of Tax Lien Sale June 7, 1976 <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner <br />Whitted, it was moved and adopted that the Board set the date for <br />Tax Lien S'al'es on June 7, 197.6. <br />The County Administrator advised the Board that Steve Bernholz, <br />County Attorney, wished tc advise the Board that he felt no action <br />was necessary to amend the Sedimentation Control Ordinance relative <br />to the hearing process. <br />The County Administrator stated that under a newly enscted <br />General Statute, the Board of Commissioner had the authority tq <br />exta~id the date of the tax listing perior. Mr. Gattis explained <br />that the last date for listing of taxes fell on Saturday, January <br />31st and that this was a non-working day for county employees thus <br />he was recommending that the Board extend the tax listing penalty <br />that would be imposed vn persons that did not or could not list . <br />their property prior to the tax deadline of January 31st. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner <br />Pinney, it was moved and adopted that the Tax Supervisor be <br />authorized to extend the tax listing period through Monday, February <br />2, 1976, and that no late list penalty be imposed on persons <br />listing vn this date. <br />The County Man~eger introduced Efaffe Oddo to the Board as the <br />new Sedimentation Control Officer. He stated that Mr. Oddo wee <br />now working with Quentin Patterson and the Planning Staff. <br />Mr. Oddo was recognized by Chairman Garrett and he made soma <br />statements to the Board concerning his new position. <br />Commissioner Whittad asked the Board to adopt a Resolution or <br />write a letter to President Ford concerning "Ynvisibl-e-~ueada.y.". <br />
