The Collector will present <br />an order directing the Tax Collector to use the remedies of attach- <br />ment, garnishment and levy against owners of real property on which <br />.taxes are delinquent. Without this order the Collector can only use <br />these remedies against personal property. <br />Johnny Horner of the Tax Department appeared on behalf of the <br />Tax Collector. He stated that the survey conducted revealed that <br />a large majority of the counties contacted do practice the attach- <br />ment, garnishment and levying of wages to secuxe payment of delinqu- <br />ent taxes on real property. <br />Further discussion ensued. The Board directed the Tax Collector <br />to use the remedies of attachment, garnishment and levy against owners <br />of reel property on which taxes are delinquent. <br />The Chairman referred to Item 12-A: The Tax Collector's <br />Charge. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gustaveson, seconded by Commissioner <br />Whitted, it was moved and adopted that the Charge to the Tax <br />Collector be approved. <br />"North Carolina, Orange County." To the Tax Collector of <br />Orange County: <br />"You are hereby authorized, empowered, and commanded to collect <br />the taxes set forth in the tax records filed in the office of the <br />Orange County Tax Collector, and in the tax receipts herewith delivered <br />to you, in the amounts and from the taxpayers likewise therein set <br />forth. Such taxes are hereby declared to be a first lien upon all <br />real property of the respective taxpayers in the County of Orange, and <br />this order shall be a full and sufficient authority to direct, require, <br />and enable you .to levy on and sell any real or persona 1. property of <br />such taxpayers, for and on account thereof, in accordance wi3:h law." <br />Witness my hand and official seal, this cnd day of February, 1976. <br />Chairman Garrett reminded the Board of the time and asked <br />if there was a motion to extent the time for the day. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Whit.ted,secanded by Commissioner <br />Pinney, it was moved and adopted that the Board extend the time <br />of the. meeting until the Agenda was completed. <br />The Board's attention was directed to Item #21: A Memorandum <br />dealing with progress towards completion of specifications and <br />design on the County Vehicle Maintencance facility was included <br />with your Agenda: <br />day of <br />A.
