5 <br />REC~I~EST FDR PROPOSAL <br />Cultural Resources Surveys Hollow Rock Access Area and New Hope Preserve <br />Orange County is seeking a qualified and experienced archaeologists} to conduct a <br />cultural resources survey on several adjacent tracts ~9?acres fatal} purchased for the <br />proposed Hollow Rock Access Area and adjoining New Hope Preserve. The Hollow <br />Rock Access Area will include a trail and limited parking, slang with other limited <br />facilities sited in a natural area. Information from the survey will be used to assist with <br />the siting of future facilities and for identifying areas of historic and cultural interest for <br />interpretation. <br />The project represents amulti-jurisdictional public-private partnership including Grange <br />and Durham counties, the Town of Chapel Hill, the City of Durham, and the Triangle <br />Land Conservancy TLC}and as such will likely have considerable public outreach <br />through the public process and related news media. The "Hollow Rock Access Area" <br />will be designed by a joint committee consisting of elected officials, park advisory <br />boards members, and local advocacy groups} charged with developing a master plan. <br />The future facility will be developed and managed as a joint effort between the two <br />counties. Grange County will also use the survey findings at a subsequent date for <br />planning the New Hope Creek Preserve. <br />This project is funded in part with a federal SOD?Historic Preservation Fund pass <br />through grant, administered through the Office of State Archaeology USA}and the <br />State Historic Preservation Office ~SHPC}. Contract requirements dictate the scope of <br />work, project timetable and deliverables. <br />All proposals must address the specifications of the accompanying Scope of Work, and <br />are to include, but not be limited to the following: <br />A discussion of the research design for the proposed investigation. <br />2. A discussion of the field and laboratory methods to be employed. <br />3. A work schedule for the proposed survey. <br />4. A lump sum project cost proposal, with cost breakouts as cited in Section IV. <br />5. Resumes articulating qualifications of all members of the project team, including, <br />but not limited to the Principal lnvestigator~s}and field directors}. <br />G. A list of all similar projects completed by the proposer over the past five ~5}years, <br />slang with contact names and telephone numbers where they may now be <br />reached. <br />
