Contract Amendment: Construction Manager at Risk Services, Hillsborough <br /> Commons Upfit for Social Services <br /> The Board considered approving a contract amendment in the amount of $2,781,457 with <br /> Resolute Building Company, the Construction Manager at Risk for the upfit of space leased at <br /> Hillsborough Commons as offices for the Department of Social Services and authorizing the <br /> Chair to sign subject to final review and approval by the County Attorney. <br /> Commissioner Gordon said that the DSS needs to relocated. Her question has to do with <br /> the cost, which has increased. She said that the overall cost, as proposed in the CIP, has <br /> increased to $3.79 million. She looked back at the original cost as approved by the <br /> commissioners in Option A and that was $2.6 million and now this cost has gone up again to over <br /> $2.78 million. She is concerned about the increase in construction costs. <br /> Purchasing and Central Services Director Pam Jones said that it has increased and all <br /> along with the construction the staff has talked about day lighting and potential HVAC needs. <br /> These things are contained in this amount. This is $81,000 more than what was in the budget <br /> before, but it incorporates the windows to the east and the façade. <br /> Commissioner Gordon said that she would argue that the County cannot afford these <br /> types of increases and she cannot go for the additional $81,000.
