Human Services j- continued <br /> Chapel Hill-Carrboro Meals on Wheels $'19000 <br /> The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Meals on Wheels program uses volunteers to deliver nutritious <br /> noonday meals with cheerful personal visits five days a week to those who are homebound or <br /> recovering from surgery. In addition to delivering meals, volunteers bake homema,de, desserts <br /> and help in the office, which is located in Binkley Baptist Church. <br /> Child Care Services Association $369571 <br /> The Child Care Services Association seeks to ensure that affordable (no more than 10% of a <br /> family's gross earning are used to purchase childcare for one child), accessible, high quality <br /> childcare is available for all young children and their families. <br /> Club Nova $75Y000 <br /> The mission of Club Nova is to serve adults in Orange County living with severe and persistent <br /> mental illness and provide them with structured daily activities, as well as social, vocational and <br /> residential opportunities that they would not otherwise have. <br /> Communities in Schools of Orange County $46,750 <br /> Communities in Schools of Orange County (CISOC) is a stay-in-school" program that <br /> coordinates human services delivery to middle school and high school youth and their families. <br /> The goal of the agency is to offer students successful learning environments and encourage <br /> them to stay in school and prepare for life. <br /> Cornucopia House $1,700 <br /> Cornucopia House provides a nurturing environment where patients, families and others can <br /> gather to share and receive support, resources and education to cope with cancer. Services at <br /> Cornucopia House are provided to anyone touched by cancer at any stage of diagnosis, <br /> treatment, recovery, remission or recurrence. <br /> Disability Awareness Council $22975 <br /> The Orange County Disability Awareness Council offers educational and advocacy projects to <br /> promote opportunities for persons with disabilities to work and live in an environment free of <br /> architectural, attitudinal, economic., structural, and societal barriers. <br /> Dispute Settlement Center $'16,660 <br /> This agency promotes and brings about peaceful settlement of disputes and prevents the <br /> escalation of conflict through. mediation, facilitation,' conciliation, and training. This agency <br /> receives a county match through the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) program. <br /> Beginning in FY 2009-10, the County JCPC match (30% of the state appropriation) will be <br /> separated from the Outside Agency request. The match will now be budgeted in the General <br /> Fund's Public Safety Non-Departmental accounts. <br /> Duke HomeCare and Hospice $3,400 <br /> This grant will serve the terminally ill and their families in Orange County. The Hospice provides <br /> medical, psychosocial, spiritual and bereavement care for the terminally ill and their loved ones. <br /> 26-12 <br />
