Fire Districtsm continued <br /> ]n FY 2008-09, the department purchased a used tanker for Station #2 instead of a new one <br /> to help with cost cutting, so the station could be rated with the Department of Insurance to <br /> lower insurance premiums for the taxpayers in the northern part of the district, and <br /> purchased 800 MHz radios with their capital reserve funds. <br /> Little River Fire District $166)939 <br /> • The tax rate for this district is recommended to remain at the effective tax rate of 4.05 cents <br /> for FY 2009--10. <br /> • In FY 2008-09, the department purchased a new 2000 gallon tanker, six sets of turnout <br /> gear, purchased extrication equipment, remodeled and repaired office area and bathrooms, <br /> a suction unit for First Responder calls, purchased six pagers, a gas monitor, and self <br /> contained breathing apparatus. <br /> • In FY 2009--10, the department plans to purchase a repeater for Soo radio system, replace <br /> aged self contained breathing apparatus, and purchase fire hoses. <br /> • The department's five-year plan includes replacing all self contained breathing apparatus to <br /> meet new standards, and analyze the feasibility of full-time staff, investigate the feasibility of <br /> building a second fire station and replacement of a mini pumper. <br /> New Hope Fire District $320,467 <br /> 0 The tax rate for this district is recommended to remain at the effective tax rate of 5.70 cents <br /> for FY 2009-10. <br /> A In FY 2008-09, the department continued to increase the number of fully-certified <br /> firefighters, paid staff overtime and volunteer policies now in compliance with Federal Fair <br /> Labor Standards Act, and all shifts are now covered with 2 paid staff to ensure adequate <br /> response for ISO rating. <br /> 0 In FY 2009-10, the plans to meet requirements for removal of ISO probation, apply for re-- <br /> evaluation for improved ISO rating from a current 9S rating to an 8 or 7, thus reducing <br /> homeowners' insurance premiums, and add formal volunteer shifts to the existing paid shift <br /> schedule. <br /> 0 The department's five-year plan includes request ISO re-evaluation with the target of <br /> reducing from an 8 (if achieved) to a 7, station consolidation — reducing from 2 stations to 1 <br /> new station, and develop new strategies to recruit and retain firefighters within the County. <br /> Orange Grove Fire District $271,845 <br /> 0 The tax rate for this district is recommended to remain at the effective tax rate of 3.58 cents <br /> for FY 200910, as well as an appropriation of $5,000 from their available fund balance to <br /> begin lifecycle replacement of turnout gear at four sets per year. <br /> 0 In FY 200809, the department implemented a call response travel reimbursement program <br /> for firefighters, hired a CFA firm to conduct an audit of finances and received a clean report, <br /> ordered a 2000 gallon tanker to replace a 25 year old 1250 gallon tanker with expected <br /> arrival in October 2009, and 13 members became recertified in medical response. <br /> 0 In 1=Y 2009-10, the department plans to continue to recruit members, prepare for a rating <br /> evaluation from the State Fire Marshal with the goal of improving the current ISO rating, <br /> 193 <br />
