Why are we doing this now? <br /> •In anticipation of the revised 2007 FIRM amendments, the State Attorney General's office <br /> issued an opinion in 2005 indicating that amendments to existing flood regulations and/or flood <br /> maps ought to be treated and processed as zoning amendments <br /> •In the fall of 2006, the County Attorney's office concurred with this opinion <br /> •In the Fall of 2008 State and Federal officials conducted a Community Assistance Visit (CAV) <br /> with staff to review/audit the floodplain management program where we were told to being this <br /> process <br /> Why we are doing this (continued): <br /> Staff and the County Attorney had hoped to wait to incorporate flood regulations into the <br /> zoning ordinance when work began on developing the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). <br /> Given the comments received from State officials during the community visit, we can not longer <br /> wait for development of the UDO to begin. <br /> Road Map for Amendments <br /> •42-31.
