Communities in Schools of Orange County <br />Communities in Schools of Orange County (CISOC) is a "stay-in-school" program that <br />coordinates human services delivery to middle school and high school youth and their families. <br />The goal of the agency is to offer students successful learning environments and encourage <br />them to stay in school and prepare for life. <br />15. Cornucopia House <br />Cornucopia House provides a nurturing environment where patients, families and others can <br />gather to share and receive support, resources and education to cope with cancer. Services at <br />Cornucopia House are provided to anyone touched by cancer at any stage of diagnosis, <br />treatment, recovery, remission or recurrence. <br />16. Disability Awareness Council <br />The Orange County Disability Awareness Council offers educational and advocacy projects to <br />promote opportunities for persons with disabilities to work and. live in an environment free of <br />architectural, attitudinal, economic, structural, and societal barriers. <br />17. Dispute Settlement Center <br />This agency promotes and brings about peaceful settlement of disputes and prevents the <br />escalation of conflict through mediation, facilitation, conciliation, and training. <br />18. Duke HomeCare and Hospice <br />This grant will serve the terminally ill and their families in Orange County. The Hospice provides <br />• medical, psychosocial, spiritual and bereavement care for the terminally ill and their loved ones. <br />19. EI Centro Latino <br />EI Centro Latino offers services to meet the needs of the Latino community in a culturally <br />appropriate and pro-active manner. These include, overcoming language and transportation <br />barriers, isolation, legal issues, educational issues, access to services and assistance to <br />individuals who are not eligible for social services. <br />20. EI Futuro <br />EI Futuro addresses the behavioral health needs of North Carolina's Latino community by <br />promoting behavioral health awareness, enhancing existing services, and developing a model <br />clinic. <br />21. EmPOWERment, Inc. <br />The mission of EmPOWERment, Inc. is to emPOWER people and communities to control their <br />own destinies through affordable housing, advocacy, community organizing and grassroots <br />economic development <br />22. Eyes Ears Nose and Paws <br />Eyes Ears Nose and Paws is a nonprofit organization that trains and places assistance dogs. <br />Our programs create a healthier community by increasing independence for individuals with <br />disabling medical conditions, improving opportunities for individual control over medical care, <br />and encouraging therapeutic interventions that improve physical and mental health. <br />• <br />Page 3 of 8 <br />
