5 <br />Openings to relieve hydrostatic pressure during a flood shall be provided <br />conforming to subsection 5 of this Section; <br />g. An accessory structure with any dimension that is twelve feet or less in <br />height, width, or depth does not require an elevation or flood proofing <br />certificate. Elevation or flood proofing certifications are required for all <br />other accessory structures accordin~to Section 14.6(3)• and <br />h. The accessory structure shall meet all zoning and building code requirements <br />9. Additions/Improvements. <br />a. Additions and/or improvements to pre-FIRM structures whereas the <br />addition and/or improvements in combination with any interior <br />modifications to the existing structure are: <br />Not a substantial improvement as defined and does not require a zoning <br />or building permit, the addition and/or improvements shall be designed <br />to minimize flood damages and shall not be any more non-conforming <br />than the existing structure. <br />ii. Substantial improvement as defined requiring a zoning or building <br />permit, both the existing structure and the addition and/or improvements <br />shall comply with the standards for new construction. <br />b. Additions to post-FIRM structures with no modifications to the existing <br />structure shall require only the addition to comply with the standards for <br />new construction. <br />c. Additions and/or improvements to post-FIRM structures whereas the <br />addition and/or improvements in combination with any interior <br />modifications to the existing structure are: <br />Not a substantial improvement, the addition and/or <br />improvements only must comply with the standards for new <br />construction; and, <br />ii. A substantial improvement. both the existing structure and the <br />addition and/or improvements must comply with the standards <br />for new construction. <br />
