2 <br />D. Facility Construction: Purchase a bus stop shelter to be located in the Hillsborough <br />downtown area. This provides a comfortable stop and should encourage additional <br />public riders. Requested amount: $6,750 <br />E. Advanced Technology: Purchase transportation scheduling software that will interface <br />with Chapel Hill Transit software system. Future coordination between E Z Rider and <br />Orange Bus will be possible with this application. Requested amount: $65,000 <br />F. Preventative Maintenance: Request funds to assist with the maintenance of the transit <br />fleet. These funds would reduce the amount of funding Orange County needs to ensure <br />a safe and reliable transit fleet. Requested amount: $98,522 <br />G. Mobility Management: Hire atime-limited (22 months) staff person to enhance and <br />market public transit in Orange County. This position would coordinate transportation <br />services with Human Service organizations, operate. transportation brokerages to <br />coordinate service providers, support local and state partnerships, provide travel/trip <br />training, and short term management for implementing coordinated services. Requested <br />amount: $94,400 <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Total amount requested is $1,860,662. There is no local match required <br />and the funds will be dispensed for 22 months only. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board hold the required public <br />hearing on the ARRA transit application and authorize the Chair to sign the resolution to submit <br />the application and to accept the funds if approved. <br />
