-.. <br />~, <br />Commissioner Gustaveson moved to table the matter until such time as the proposed <br />nominations could be coordinated with the Social Services Board as to the nominees. <br />Commissioner whitted seconded the motion. <br />Commissioner iValker asked the Hoard to wait until he returned from his trip before <br />taking any further action. <br />Commissioner Pinney suggested that the Board recommend to the Social Services Board <br />that Mr. Breeze be considered for the nomination as the State Appointee. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson and Commissioner CVhitted agreed to withdraw the motion to <br />table the matter until such time as the proposed nominations could be coordinated with <br />-_ the Social Services Board. <br />Commissioner Walker then withdrew his original motion. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner Gustaveson, it was <br />moved and adopted that Col. I^iilliam H. Breeze be recommended to the Board of Social Ser- <br />vices as the nominee for appointment by the State. <br />The Clerk was instructed to forward a letter to the Director of the Social Services <br />Department advising him of the action taken by the Board. <br />B. The term of John Scarlett on the County Planning Board expired in January, 1975. <br />Commissioner Whitted nominated John Scarlett as a member of the County Planning <br />Board. Commissioner Walker moved that the nominations be closed and that Mr. Scarlett <br />be accepted by acclamation. <br />C. The-term of J. G. Whitfield on the Orange County Board at Adjustments expired <br />P4ay 16 , 19 7 5 . <br />Commissioner Pinney moved that the Board defer action on Mr. Whitfield's appoint- <br />ment until the Planning Director could confirm that Mr. Cahitfield wished to continue as <br />a member of the Board of Adjustments. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Whitted <br />and adopted by the Board. <br />D. Mr. Brian Theobald has resigned -from the Durham-Orange Manpower Council <br />effective immediately. Mr. Theobald is in management at Universal Textured Yarns, <br />an industry in the ?sebane industrial Park. zt was the intent of the Board of <br />Commissioners when I'ir. Theobald was appointed to have someone familiar with the <br />employers' needs and who worked in this Industrial Park to serve as one of the <br />County appointees on this Council- <br />This matter was deferred. <br />Chairman Garrett referred to Item # S on the Agenda: (Health Task Force). <br />A. One vacancy exists on this group. <br />Commissioner Whitted nominated ?vancy Jones to the Health Task Force. <br />B. The County Commissioners should name a chairman of this group. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson nominated Joel Schwart as Chairman of the Health Task Force. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner Whitted, it was moved <br />and adopted that the nomination be closed and that Nancy Jones and Joel Schwart be elected <br />by acclamation. <br />Chairman Garrett referred to item $6: (Report on Bicentennial Activities by the <br />Hoard Chairman.) <br />Chairman Garrett explained the reason and the need for establishing a Bicentennial <br />Committee for the County. She stated that it had been suggested that a Coordinating <br />Committee for the purpose of meeting t'~e State requirements for having Orange County <br />designated as a Bicentennial County be appointed from the three historical organizations <br />within the County. Discussion ensued. <br />The Clerk was instructed to write to the President of each of the historical <br />organization and request that they submit a list of three names which could be used <br />by the Board in appointing the Coordinating Committee. <br />Chairman Garrett referred to Item #8 on the Agenda: (Budget amendment to record <br />refund revenues to County School unit for April and May, to appropriate County Fund <br />__ Balances and provide additional funds for Motor Pool.) <br />Neal Evans, Fiscal Officer, filed with the 3oard a Proposed Budget Amendment. <br />
