Orange County <br />also expresses support for increased allocations by the <br />State which may be available in the current fiscal year <br />as a result of the Federal Stimulus Package to ~. , <br />strengthen community based ~znental health services; <br />i.e., Club Nava ~Carrbora} and KidsCope <br />Hillsborough}that have required recent supplemental <br />financial support from Orange County government; <br />l 9 } Mental health ~ustod -Oppose House Bill ~ 4 3 ~- N~ental <br />Health/I~aw Enforcement Custady -~ in its current form <br />and any other similar legislation addressing the <br />treatment of individuals who are being transported to <br />medical facilities on an involuntary commitment order. <br />The bill as written places undue financial burdens upon <br />the~law enforcement agency if in ,the course of Custady <br />a prisoner is discovered to have a medical condition <br />that needs treatment. These unforeseeable costs are <br />extremely problematic and Orange County urges any <br />expectation or demand that local governments absorb <br />this expense be remavedr <br />
