-534 <br />AUTHORITY', and Commissioner *form Gustaveson seconded the motion, and the resolution <br />was parsed by the following vote: <br />Commissioners Flora R. Garrett, Norman Walker, Richard Whitted, Jan Pinney, and <br />Norm Gustaveson voted Aye. <br />Chairman Garrett declared the motion passed. <br />Co;mni.ssioner Jan Pinney moved Commissioner Walker be named voting delegate to the <br />NACO Convention. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson offered a second. <br />Vote, ayes 5; nay 0. Chairman Garrett declared the motion passed: <br />Commissioner Garrett brought up the question of an A -95 review of the Rangewood <br />Subdivision. It was suggested that the County Planning Director be requested to <br />reply to the Council of Governments commenting about the problems presently existing <br />in this subdivision pointing out how densely it was developed, the difficulties pre- <br />sently being encountered with septic tanks, etc. <br />Commissioner Jan Pinney offered a motion to this effect. Commissioner Richard <br />Whitted offered a second. <br />Vote: ayes 5; nay 0. <br />Chairman Garrett declared the motion passed. <br />Chairman Garrett reported that Quentin Patterson was not going to be able to <br />serve on the Planning for Growth and Environmental Quality Council. <br />Commissioner Richard Whitted moved that Mr. Howard Pope be named to this Council. <br />Commissioner Jan Pinney offered a second. <br />Vote: ayes 5; nay 0. <br />Chairman Garrett declared the motion passed. <br />The Chairman read to the Board a notice she had received from the State Department <br />of Natural and Economic Resources concerning a Youth Seminar on Law and Government to be <br />held at the Institute of Government in June. The cost of seadiITT a delegate to the Seminar <br />is $30. The County can send up to five delegates if it so elects. After some discussion <br />Commissioner Whitted moved the County send six delegates, awarding two each to Chapel <br />Hill, Orange and Friends High Schools. <br />Commissioner Jan Pinney offered a second. <br />Vote: ayes 4; nay 0. Commissioner Norman Walker having been excused. <br />The motion was declared passed. <br />Mr. Don Dickerson from the County Attorney's Office read the following resolution: <br />"BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the County Commissioners of Orange County, <br />sitting as the governing Board of said County, does hereby authorize the County <br />Attorney to sell to Donnell Thompson and wife, Emma M. Thompson, that certain <br />piece of property owned by Orange County, and more particularly described in Deed <br />Book 253, Page 1001, Orange County Registry, for the price of Two Thousand Fifty - <br />five and 10/100 Dollars ($2,055.10), pursuant to North Carolina General Statutes <br />105- 376(c)." <br />Commissioner Pinney offered a motion to adopt the resolution as read by Mr. Dickerson. <br />Commissioner Richard Whitted offered a second. <br />Vote: ayes 4: nay 0. <br />The motion was declared passed. <br />The Board of Commissioners set 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 1975, as the time <br />for a public hearing on the question of transferring certain territory between the <br />Efland and Orange Grove Rural Fire Protection Districts. <br />The County Attorney gave a brief report on passible regulation of the use of the <br />County operated "Green Boxes ". In effect he stated the Board of County Commissioners <br />had the authority to enact regulations controlling the use of these boxes as the County <br />may regulate the collection of solid waste. <br />The meeting then adjourned.I� <br />Flora R.
