c) Cultural and Archaeological Resources -the EA identifies a few historic sites <br />located in the vicinity of the subject property, however no historic or archaeological <br />resources are known to exist within the proposed project site. The EA states on Page 6: <br />"The site wil/ undergo a Historic ~a/ue Survey prior to acquisition to determine if any <br />archaeo%gica/ or historical properties in the vicinity will undergo any significant effects due <br />to the transfer station" and on Page 12: "If the Historic l/alue Survey identifies any <br />resources at Site 056, the North Carolina Department of Cultura/Resources, Division of <br />Archives and History, will be contacted prior to construction for recommendations " <br />Prior to any construction, a more detailed Cultural and Archaeological C & A) survey <br />of the property should be conducted consistent with Orange County's Cultural and <br />Archaeologicalical Survey Ordinance. C & A surveys (or Phase I Cultural Resources Surveys) <br />are conducted under the guidance of the NC Office of State Archaeology. That ofFce <br />receives the survey findings and provides guidance on how to proceed.
