~~~ <br />THE MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />December 23, 1974 <br />The Orange county Board of Commissioners met in adjourned session on Monday, <br />December 23, 1974, at 8:00 P.M. in the Commissioners Room of the Courthouseā€¢in <br />Hillsborough, N. C. - <br />Members Present: Flora Garrett, Chairman, Commissioners, Norman Guataveson, <br />Jan Pinney, and Richard E. Whitted. <br />Members Absent: Conmussioner Norman Walker. <br />Bill Laws, Tax Supervisor, and Archie Kelly, Tax Appraiser, were also present. <br />The following persons were named to the county. Task Force on community <br />Development: <br />Margorie Land <br />Marion Woods (Mrs. James Woods) <br />Marilyn Riddle (Mrs. James Riddle <br />Kathan xaskins (Mrs. William xaskins) <br />Viola Tinnen <br />c. U. Moore <br />_ Bobby Cobb <br />Tom Sacon <br />Grey Clark <br />Earl Thomas McKee <br />The first meeting of this Task Force was set for Monday, December 3Dth in the <br />Commissioners Room of the Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />The Board of commissioners then reached the following decisions concerning <br />property tax values: <br />1. Affirmed the Tax Supervisor's decision to disapprove application <br />of D. St. Pierre DuBose for present use assessments vn Eno and Chapel <br />Hill Township tracts. <br />2. Accepted recommendation of State Property Tax Commission that property <br />on Merritt Mill Road be assessed at $180 per front foot and that <br />property on Brewer Lane be assessed at $160 per front foot. <br />3. Property of H. A. Whitmore in Bingham Township, Tax Map 9, Lot 23A, <br />be appraised at 55,000. <br />4. Property of Union Grove Methpdist Church in Chapel Hill Township, <br />shown on Tax Map 12, Lot 14, be appraised at $25D per acre. <br />5. Property of George W. Kane Company in Chapel xill Township, shown <br />on Tax Map 116 as Lot 7, be appraised at $2,596,100 (Commissioner <br />Norman Gustaveson voted against this reduction). <br />6. That the property of R. G. xancock known as Berkshire Manor Appartments, <br />and shown on Chapel Hill Township Tax Map 114 as parcle 10 be appraised <br />at $1,114700. <br />7. That no change be made in the assessed value ($3,050,SOD) of the <br />property of Plaza Associates shown on Chapel Hi11 Township Tax Map <br />80 as Lot 4 in Black F and Lot 19 in Block G. <br />8. That the assessment on the property of Edward P. Pizer known as <br />Eastowne and shown on Chapel Hill Township Tax Map 26 as Lto 17B <br />be affirmed. <br />9. That the property of Kenneth s. Garrison shown on Hillsborough <br />Township Tax Map 6A as parcle 6, Block F be assessed at $3,4D0. <br />10. That the property of Simmon F. Terrell shown on Chapel Hill Township, <br />Tax Map 54B as parcle 1, Block D, be appraised at 552,400. <br />11. That no change be made in the appraisal of the property of Jeremy <br />Cyrile Romanovsky shown on chapel Hill Township, Tax Map 77A, <br />Block A, Lots 6, 10, 22, and 23 and on Block B of the same map <br />- as parcle 11. <br />12. Mr. Ted Duda, representative of the Oaks, failed to appear and <br />present a protest to the assessment of the property shown on <br />Chapel Hill Township Tax Map S4A as-Lot 1 in Block B. <br />13. Np decision was reched concerning the assessment of the pezsonal <br />property of Efland Knitting Company pending receipt of additional <br />evedence relating to the value of the machinery in question from the <br />owner and from the Tax Department. <br />
