Walker, it was moved that Norman Walker be re-appointed as a member of the Orange .County Social Services Board for a term of three years. Chairman Walker called for the vote. Commissioners Henry S. Walker and Melvin Whitfield voted aye. Commissioner Flora Garrett voted nay. It was bxought to the attention of the Board that ceztain appointments needed to be made for the Carrboro Planning Board and the Carrboro Board of Adjustments. Discussion ensued. Upon motion of Commissioner Melvin Whitfield, seconded by Commissioner xenry S. Walker, it was moved and adopted that Franves 5hetley and Faye Suggs be appointed as members of the Carrboro Planning Board and that Norris Ray be re-appointed as a member of the Carrboro Board of Adjustments each of these terms are immediately effective and each member will serve a five (5) year term on eaCh~Bgard. Pearson Stewart explained to the Board the Community Development Act as it had been passed by Congress. He urged the Board, it at all possible, to file a joint application for funds with the Towns of Hillsborough and Carrboro* He stated that he felt a joint application of his senior staff member to develop a Community Development Plan for each County within Region J. This work will be done in time to allow filing the application before the deadline which is in April, 1975. Chairman Walker requested the Clerk to read the minutes of'the Dctober. meetings. There were corrections that needed to be made in the minutes of the October 7th meeting. Upon motion of Commissioner Flora Garrett, seconded by Commissioner Melvin Whitfield, the minutes of the October meetings were approved and the Clerk was instructed. to make the needed corrections. Commissioner Flora Garrett presented the following Resolution: The orange County Board of Commissioners has allocated sufficient money each year tv build and pay of the Orange County Rescue Squad Balding. we are pleased with the service and quality of care of the Rescue Squad in caring for our residents. Because of the large amount of money that Orange County has given for the building, we are asking that the Town of Hillsborough pay for the paving of the road since the Building is located inside the corporate limits of xillsborough. We understand that the Town of Hillsborough is willing to put up money for the project and we comment and thank the Town for their co-operation. Upon motion of Commissioner Flora Garrett, seconded by Commissioner Henry S. Walker, it was moved and adopted that the Town of Hillsborough be forwarded a copy bf the Resolution. Upon motion of Commissioner Flora Garrett, seconded by Commissioner Melvin Whitfield, it was moved and adopted, that the County execute the easement that had been presented by the Town of Hillsborough with the understanding that sufficient protection be given to the trees along the river and that the Town limit as much as possible the sedimentation from going into the Eno River. Upon motion of Commissioner Melvin Whitfield, seconded by Commissioner Flora Garrett, it was moved that the Board extend to Mrs. Gilbert Ray and family their sympathy over the death of Gilbert Ray.
