~~? <br />Commissioner Flora Garrett questioned Mr. Watkins about the roads in Rangewood. <br />Mr. Watkins stated that the roads in the Rangewood Subdivision must be brought up <br />to State standards prior to the Board of Transportation assuming maintenance of <br />said roads. The Clerk was requested to advise Willard Cotton of this requirement. <br />Mr. Watkins stated that under House Bill 1063 the Board of Transportation <br />needed to secure a Resolution from the Board of Commissioners relative to the <br />acceptance of the proposed 1974=1975 Secondary Road Improvement Program. He <br />further requested that the Board of Commissioners convey to the Board of Transpor- <br />tation their concurrance and/or thoughts on all road matters. <br />Chairman Walker inquired if ther was anyone else who wished to speak at the <br />Public Hearing. No::one came forth. He then declared the Public Hearing adjourned. <br />Chairman Walker then referred the Board to Item #2 on the Agenda: (Proposed <br />amendment to the Orange County School Administrative Units Budget for the 1974- <br />1975 fiscal year.) <br />The County Administrator presented a request from the Orange County School <br />Administration that their current budget be amended. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry S. Walker, seconded by Commissioner Flora <br />Garrett, it was moved and unanimously adopted that the budget of the Orange <br />County School Unit be amended as follows: "That $113,587.12 be transferred <br />from the Current Expense Refund Account to the Current Expense Appropriation <br />Account." "That $54,OD1.92 be transferred from the Capital Outlay Refund Account <br />to the Capital Outlay Appropriation Account." <br />The Board was then referred to Item #3 on the Agenda: (Several small property <br />tax refunds for Board approval.) <br />The County Administrator presented the following list of tax refund requests. <br />Name Amount of Refund Due <br />Luther Tilley Hrs. - Clercial error, mapped incorrectly :..__'-.. .:$ :16.80 <br />Little River twsp. acreage calculated <br />incorrectly on Tax Map. Paid under <br />protest. <br />White Furniture Co.- Mapping error, too much acreage when 49.58 <br /> maps were made. <br />Vera O. Wilkerson - Double listed 10 acre plus house was 106.44 <br /> sold and not taken off. <br />Maggie Satterfield - Double listed for one parcel which was :. 17.88 <br /> not mapped which belonged to her <br /> brother. <br />Nancy J. Bessler - House appraised as two story instead 74.36 <br /> of one story, appraisal error made in <br /> field. <br />Joe Beitl - Assessed with house which belonged to <br /> Robert D. Dalehite 3,100 value. 21.06 <br />Carol E. & Mary Bond-Assessed with wrong house for year <br /> 1973. Value of $16,700 should have <br /> been X15,800 a difference of $900. 6.12 <br />Discussion••ensued. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Melvin Whitfield, seconded by Commissioner Henry <br />S. Walker, it was moved and adopted, that the tax refunds be made to the individuals <br />requesting said refunds. <br />The Board was referred to Item #4 on the Agenda- (Appointment to Department <br />of Social Services Board.) <br />Chairman Walker presented a letter from Thomas M. Ward, Director of the <br />Department of Social Services. Said letter advised the Board that Mrs. Jean <br />McDade of Cedar Grove, North Carolina had resigned from the Board of Social <br />Services on October 29,.1974, and that the Board of Social Services did recommend <br />the appointment of William Breeze of Hurdle Mills, N. C. to fill the unexpired <br />term of Mrs. McDade. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry 5. Walker, seconded by Commissioner <br />Melvin Whitfield, it was moved and unanimously adopted that William Breeze of <br />Hurdle Mills, North Carolina be appointed to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. <br />Jean McDade on the Social Services Board. <br />Chairman Walker advised the Board that the Social Services Board had been <br />notified by the State Board of Social Services that his term on the Social <br />Services Board had expired in July of 1974, however, he had continued to serve <br />as a member of the local Board. He Stated that he was willing to continue as <br />a member of the local Board if the Board of Commissioners wanted to re-appoint <br />him. <br />t <br />
