~j .. 41'7 <br />The Register of Deeds presented the following request: <br />This is to certify that on September 16, 1974, the law firm <br />of Harris & Ruis did present to the Orange County Register of <br />Deeds office for recording a deed dated September 16, 1974, from <br />William R. Winders, Trustee for Larry 0. Marlin, bankrupt, to A. <br />E. Morgan and wife, Phyllis H. Morgan. The Register of Deeds <br />office did collect from the firm of Harris and Ruis the sum of <br />seventy nine (579.00) dollars for documentary stamps. It has <br />_ since been learned that the documentary stamp law did not apply <br />tp this purchase. Said law did not apply for the following r <br />reasons: <br />Quote taken from a letter dated September 17, 1974, <br />from William R. winders, Attorney, to the law firm <br />of Harris & Ruis. <br />"the 1974 Bankruptcy Gvide, page 30: 'Tn the sale of <br />real estate, the Trustee does NOT pay for documentary <br />stamps, since they are considered to be a state taxi...'." <br />The request for reimbursement of Seventy nine ($79.00) dollars <br />is authorized under G. S. 105-405.1. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry 5. Walker, seconded by Commissioner Flora <br />Garrett, it was moved and adapted that the County Accountant be authorized to refund <br />579.00 to William R. Winders, Attorney at Law of Durham, N. C. <br />The County Administrator presented a letter from the Orange County Emergency <br />Medical Council. Said letter requested the Board to make two recommendations to <br />the Emergency Medical Council. <br />llpon motion of Commissioner Richard E. Whitted, seconded by Commissioner Melvin <br />Whitfield, it was moved and adopted that Fred Parker and Dr. Thomas Griggs be <br />recommended to the Region J Emergency Medical Services Council. <br />There being no further business to come before the Soard the Meeting was <br />adjourned. <br />~, <br />C. C. <br />Approved• <br />MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />October 15, 1974 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in regular.session on <br />Tuesday, October l5, 1974, at 8 o'clock p.m. in the Commissioners Rovm at the <br />Courthouse in Hillsborough, N. C. <br />i . <br />Members Present: Chairman Norman Walker, and Commissioners Flora Garrett, <br />Richard E. Whitted and Melvin Whitfield. <br />I . <br />Members Absent: Commissioner Henry 5. Walker <br />The minutes of the September meetings were reviewed and Commissioner Melvin <br />Whitfield stated that there was one correction that needed to be made in the minutes <br />~ of September 3rd meeting. The correction being the request of Mr. Dobson to <br />require a lot size of 40,000 square feet prior to the issuance of a building permit <br />or mobile home installation. <br />The Clerk was instructed to correct the minutes of September 3, 1974. <br />~~v <br />
