Box 8181 <br />Hillsborough NC 27278 <br />Dear Chair Foushee: <br />Subject: Board Appointment <br />The Orange County Recreation and Parks Advisory Council reviewed all applicants for the Recreation <br />and Parks Advisory Council and recommends Richal Vanhook to fill the Cedar Grove Township <br />position to be vacated at the end of March. Mr. Vanhook is a resident of Cedar Grove. <br />"The criteria for this position are: <br />• That the applicant selected be a resident of Cedar Grove township, that he/she show an active <br />interest in the development and improvement of recreational opportunities and parks in Orange <br />County. <br />• That he/she possess experience or training in recreational activities and/or <br />• Experience or training or demonstrated interest in parks and a <br />• Willingness to commit to active participation on the Council <br />In addition, the Recreation and Parks Advisory Council is committed to increasing the diversity of <br />Council members and committed to preserving a geographical balance of representation whenever <br />possible. <br />It is the feeling of the Council that Mr. Vanhook will provide valuable input as a member because: <br />• He grew up in the Cedar Grove Community and has lived there all of his life. <br />• He is the Chair of Trustees of the Lattisville Grove Baptist Church, and as such may bring with him <br />qualities associated with leadership and work ethics. <br />• He will represent the Township of Cedar Grove as a resident and property owner. <br />• Mr. Vanhook participated in the master planning work group for the new park. <br />• He has been an applicant for RPAC since 2006 and remains interested in the Council and the work <br />of the department. <br />• He has a college degree in Business Administration. <br />• He has an interest in parks and recreation as demonstrated by his involvement in community <br />athletic activities. <br />Thank you for your consideration of this nomination. <br />Sincerely, <br /> <br />C:\Documents and Settings\athompson-rockett\Local Settings\Temporary Internet <br />Files\OLK9D\Recommendation Letter- Richal Vanhook.doc <br />
