The purchase price was $32,900.00, of which $25,000.00 was in the <br />form of a gram from the North Carolina Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance <br />~DPPFA}. The intended purpose of the machine was to create alternative products from <br />unmarketable glass. As the Board may recall it was anticipated that the glass crusher will process <br />green glass, other loads of glass that include ceramics, and other difficult to~market glass products. <br />The Crusher worked as specified and the County processed unmarketable glass. The County no <br />longer saris glass for processing and therefore the Crusher is of no use to Grange County. <br />Wilkes County North Carolina has agreed to~ purchase the Crusher for a sum of $5,040.04. DPPEA <br />has stated that they would prefer the crusher be sold to another local government in North Carolina. <br />North Carolina G.S. 60A~26? provides for the sale of private property via private sale. The attached <br />resolution if adopted will declare the Glass Crusher and authorize the Director of Purchasing and <br />Central Services to sell the Glass Crusher via private" sale. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The $5,544.40 received from the sale would be deposited in Solid Waste's <br />Sale of Fixed Assets fund. <br />RECQMMENDAT1tJN~5~: The Manager recommends the Board: <br />• Declare the Andela Products Glass Crusher mode! GP~45 surplus; and <br />• Adopt the resolution authorizing the Director of Purchasing and Cents! Services to conduct an <br />auction to dispose of the Glass Crusher through negotiated private sale. <br />s Authorize the Clerk to publish a notice summarizing the Resolution pursuant to G.S. ~ 60A-26?' <br />
