~a-r- ~1~~a~-- <br />~1-,e <br />RESOLUTION <br />OFFICIAL NAMING -CEDAR GROVE PARK <br />WHEREAS, Orange County has demonstrated its commitment to construct an outdoor <br />park facility for the residents of Cedar Grove Township and northwestern <br />Orange County, co-located with the Northern Community Center on NC 86 <br />North; and <br />WHEREAS, The County, in partnership with members of the community, prepared a <br />Master Plan for the site which was adopted in December 2005, using the <br />working title of Northern Park; and <br />WHEREAS, The Board adopted the Orange County Property Naming Policy on March 3, <br />2009; and <br />WHEREAS, In accordance with the requirements of the policy the Board reviewed a <br />report from the County Manager on March 17, 2009, which outlined the <br />history of the development of the park and the outreach process for naming <br />the park; and <br />WHEREAS, Community residents have considered the selection of names and have <br />voiced their preference for the name "Cedar Grove Park; and <br />WHEREAS, The Recreation and Parks Advisory Council (RPAG~ has also reviewed the <br />list of names and supports the name "Cedar Grove Park"; and <br />WHEREAS, The new park facility is scheduled to open on Apri118, 2009; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby officially name its newest park facility located on <br />NC 86 North, six miles north of I~illsborough, as Cedar Grove Park. <br />,,~ <br />This the 7th day of April 2009. <br />~-- <br />Valerie Foushee, Chair <br />Orange County Board of Conunissioners <br />Attest <br />~-~"' ~ '. <br />Donna Baker, Clerk to the Board <br />
