3 <br />RESOLUTION <br />OFFICIAL NAMING -CEDAR GROVE PARK <br />~f3ERF,AS, Orange County has demonstrated its ca;tnmitment to construct an outdoor <br />park facility for the residents of Cedar Grove Township and northwestern <br />Grange County, co~located with the Northern Community Center on NC 8G <br />North; and <br />'~I3ER~AS, The County, in partnership with members of the canr.~unity, prepared a <br />Master Plan for the site which was adopted .~. December 2045, using the <br />working title of Nor~.ern Park; and <br />w~ER,EAS, The Board adopted the orange County Property Naming Policy on N~arch 3, <br />ZDD9; and <br />wI3ER.EAS, ~n accordance with tla.e requirements of the policy the Board reviewed a <br />report frorn. the County Manager on March 7, 200, which outlined the <br />history of the development of t~.e park and the outreach process for naming <br />the parr; and <br />w~EREAS, Community residents have considered the selecd.on of names and have <br />voiced their preference for the nan~.e "Cedar Grove Park; and <br />w~ER..EAS, The Recreation and Parks Advisory Council ~RPAC} has also reviewed the <br />list of names and supports the name "Cedar Grave Park"; and <br />W~iEREAS, The new park facility is scheduled to open on April ~ 8, 2DO9; <br />~[]w, TI3EREFQRE, BE IT R~ESCILVED that tb.e Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners does hereby off dally name its newest park facility located on <br />NC 8G North, six miles north of Hillsborough, as Cedar Grove Park. <br />This the 7th day of April Zoo9. <br />valerie Foushee, Chair <br />Orange County Board of Cornanissioners <br />Attest <br />Donna Baker, Clerk to the Board <br />
