<br />The 1974 Orange County Board of Equalization and Review convened at 7:00 P.M.,
<br />on Thursday, June 27, 1974, in the Commissioners Room of the Orange county Courthouse,
<br />to consider and resolve appeals of real property tax valuations heard at eazlier
<br />meetings,
<br />Members Present: Chairman C. Norman Walker, Commissioners Henry S. Walker,
<br />Richard Whitted,.Flara Garrett, and Melvin Whitfield.
<br />Members Absent: None
<br />The Board took the following action on appeals heazd at earlier 1974 meetings:
<br />The tax valuation of the house and land appealed by Frank W. Bumphus and
<br />Dorothy (Tax Map 3 Lot 2DA, Chapel Hill Township) was reduced frpm 543,300 to
<br />542,000; the valuation appealed by Harold Daye & Isabell (Tax Map 3 Lot 20,
<br />Chapel Hill Township) was reduced from 57,900 to 55,300; the valuation of the
<br />tract appealed by Sames W. Lester (Tax Map 27 Block D Lot 8, Chapel Hill Township)
<br />was reduced by the Hoard from 5117,600 to $54,800; the valuation of Raymond
<br />Simmons' property (Tax Map 38 Block B, Lot 15, Chapel Hill Township) was reduced
<br />from 531,600 to $25,200; the valuatidn : of the Frederick Conner property (Tax
<br />Map 47, Block A, Lot 7, Chapel Hill Township) Was reduced from 550,600 to $38,60D;
<br />the Luke and Alice Conner property valuation (Tax Map 47, Block A, Let 6, Chapel
<br />Hill Township) was reduced from $94,600 to $68,500; the property valuation appealed
<br />by Bruce B. Martindale (Tax Map 47, Block A, Lot 4, Chapel Hill Township) was
<br />.reduced from 531,600 to 526,700; the valuation appealed by Mrs. C. L. Martindale
<br />(Tax Map 47, Block A, Lot 5, Chapel Hill Township) was reduced from $104,500 to
<br />$75,300; the valuation appealed by W, B. Upchurch (Tax Map 38, Block B, Lot 14,
<br />Chapel Hill Township) was reduced from 58,700 to 55,800• the valuation appealed
<br />by col. Frank S. Westling and Ludmilla (Tax Map 118A, Block B, Lot 11, Chapel Hill
<br />Township) was reduced from 510,600 to $9,500; the valuations of Wolfs Pond Subdivision
<br />lots appealed by Melas Corporation (Tax Map 118A, Chapel Hill Township) were
<br />reduced by the Board's determination that all lots in Section 2 of the Subdivision
<br />be appraised at 53,500 per acre and that all lots in Section II, III, IV be
<br />appraised at $4,,500 per acre; the valuation appealed by Joseph A. Cima and
<br />Evelyn (Tax Map 118A, Black A, Lots 1 & 2 Chapel Hill Township) was resolved by
<br />reduciNq the valuation of these lots to $3,500 per acre; the appeal of Rock
<br />Spring'Farms, Inc. (Tax Map 30, Lot 8A, Chapel Hill Township) was resolved by
<br />reducing the valuation of this parcel from 544,000 to $8,200; the valuations
<br />appealed by Philip C. Schinhan (Tax Map 116A, Blocks A-F, Chapel Hill Township)
<br />were affirmed by the Board; the appeals of D. C. & D. N. Stallings of valuations
<br />of Rollingwood Subdivision lots in Chapel Hill Township were resolved by reducing
<br />the per front foot street price within the Subdivision to $15.00; the valuation
<br />of the Stallings property described by Tax Map 96, Block C, Lot 6, Chapel Hill
<br />Township was left unchanged by the Boazd• the valuation of the chapel Hill
<br />country Club tract (Tax Map 73, Lot 2, Chapel Hill Township) was reduced from
<br />5241,600 to 5183,600; the valuations appealed by James C. Parsons (Tax Map 8,
<br />Lots 9, 9B, and 9C, Chapel Hill Township) were not changed by the Board; the
<br />valuation appealed by Eva W, Warren (Tax Map 20, Lot 10, Eno Township) was
<br />reduced from $35,200 to $31,300.

<br />The Board of County Commissioners of Drange Cevnty met in regulai session on
<br />Monday, July 1, 1974, at 10 o'clock A, M. in the Commissioners Room at the Court-
<br />house in Hillsborough, North Carolina.
<br />Members Present: Chairman C. Norman Walker, and Commissioners Henry S.
<br />Walker, Flora Garrett, Richard E, whitted, and Melvin Whitfield. ~I
<br />Members Absent: None.
<br />Chairman Walker referred the Board to Item I of the Agenda: (From County
