<br />and the service would apply to areas of the county that are so sparsely
<br />populated as to not justify o~ need Eire protection;

<br />It is economically feasible to provide fire service in the district
<br />hereinafter described without unreasonable ot` burdensome annual tax levies
<br />in that the appraised value of the property within the proposed district
<br />is in excess of $2,760,DD0; (that an additional ad valorem tax levy of
<br />3DG per 5100.00 Of property valuation would provide fire protection;)

<br />There is a demonstrable demand for fire protection within the area,
<br />which demand has been manifested by numerous property owners within the
<br />district petitioning the Board of County Commissioners to make fire protection
<br />available within said area,
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE5DLVED, that tha-Board of Commissioners of Orange
<br />County does hereby define the following area as a service district far the
<br />purpose of providing fire protection in the area described as follows:
<br />52 D Block B lots 6, 7, e, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18,
<br />19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25
<br />Block C lots 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18.
<br />Block D lots 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 -
<br />Hlvck E lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
<br />Block F lots 1, 2, 3, 4,
<br />Block G lots 1, 2, 3, 4, S, 6, 7, 8
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the effective date Of this resolution
<br />shall be suly, 1, 1974 "
<br />Discussion ensued.
<br />Commissioner Melvin Whitfield moved for the adoption of the two Resolutions.
<br />Commissioner Henry Walker seconded the motion,
<br />Further discussion ensued.
<br />The original motion was amended to strike from the two Resolutions the
<br />following wording:
<br />"that an additional ad valorem tax levy of 30G per $IOD,pO of
<br />property valuation would provide fire protection;"
<br />The Commissioners began a page by page review of the budget request.
<br />Page 6 - Facilities - "For Solicitor 52,500.00 - deleted
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry S. Walker, seconded by Commissioner Melvin
<br />Whitfield, it was moved, that the Board disapprove the request of the District
<br />Solicitor for $2,500.00.
<br />Chairman Walker called for a vote on the motion,
<br />Commissioners Flora Garrett, Henry Walker, Norman Walker, and Melvin Whitfield
<br />.. voted aye. Commissioner Richard E. Whitted voted nay,

<br />The County Administrator explained that this item was not really necessary
<br />as he had not approached the owner of the land and he did not know if he would
<br />sell. The Board agreed to delete this item.
<br />Page 16 - General Fund - Code #038,000 - Ambulance Service
<br />Discussion ensued, The Board agreed to reduce the level of funding for the
<br />Chapel Hill Funeral Home from 527,200 annually to $13,600 for the 1974-1975
<br />Budget year, And that the County would phase out this service when the $13,600
<br />approximation was spent,
<br />Page 18 - District Health Department - Code #67,000
<br />Discussion ensued as to the cause of the increase in this Department.
<br />t Commissioner Richard Whitted asked the County Administrator if one of the Sanitarian's
<br />salary from last year had not been taken Erom monies that were received from
<br />Revenue Sharing funds, Mr. Gatos replied "yes". Commissioner Whitted stated
