CHESHIRE (RETIRED)
TO: MR. JOHN M. LINK, JR. COUNTY MANAGER
'(Al 1
FROM: D. MICHAEL PARKE ATTORNEY FOR ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOLS
RE: SITE FOR PROPOSED HIGH SCHOOL
Randy Bridges has requested that I forward to you
information regarding the options between the Orange County Board
of Education and two landowners for a prospective site for the new
high school. On April 7, 1999 the Orange County Board of Education
entered into an Option Agreement with Irma H. Crawford giving the
Board of Education the option to purchase approximately 20 acres at
the intersection of New Grady Brown School Road and Orange Grove
Road. The site is directly across New Grady Brown School Road from
Grady Brown Elementary School. The purchase price for the property
is $10,000.00 per acre.
On April 19, 1999 the Board of Education entered into an
Option Agreement with Elizabeth W. Matheson to purchase a 44.8 acre
parcel of land between the property owned by Ms. Crawford and
Interstate 40 for $9,000.00 per acre. Thus, assuming the acreage
is correct, we have options to purchase a total of 64.8 acres for
$603,200.00. Both options must be exercised on or before July 4,
1999, unless extended.
I enclose a portion of the tax map showing the two
parcels for your reference. Please advise if you have any
questions.
pc: Mr. Randy Bridges
ocb \mem.29
