ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE PRICE OF <br />THE SITE FOR THE NEW HIGH SCHOOL IN <br />THE ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOLS DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, the bond referendum approved by Orange County voters in November 1997 included a <br />portion of the funding required for the construction of a new high school in the Orange County Schools <br />district; and <br />WHEREAS, the Orange County Schools have, since the approval of that bond referendum, engaged in a <br />process for identifying and selecting an appropriate site for that new high school, and have obtained <br />options for the purchase of an appropriate site; and <br />WHEREAS, North Carolina General Statutes §115C -426 (f)_ provide that "...no contract for the <br />purchase of a site shall be executed nor any funds expended therefor without the approval of the board of <br />county commissioners as to the amount to be spent for the site ... "; and <br />WHEREAS, representatives of the Orange County Board of Education have presented sufficient <br />information to persuade the Board of Commissioners that the proposed purchase price of $603,200 for the <br />64.8 acres under consideration is an appropriate amount to be spent for the site; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of Commissioners that it hereby <br />approves the amount to be spent by the Orange County Board of Education for the site of the new high <br />school. <br />This, the 4th day of May, 1999. <br />
