EmPOWERment <br />Carr Court <br />Sykes St. <br />Community Development <br />Orange Community Housing Corp. <br />Scarlett Drive <br />$75,000 <br />$70,000 <br />HOME <br />$100,000 <br />$74,000 <br />EmPOWERment has requested reallocating funds as follows: <br />Community Development HOME <br />EmPOWERment <br />Carr Court $174,000 <br />Sykes St. <br />Orange Community Housing Corp. <br />Scarlett Drive $145,000 <br />Staff Response: The HOME Consortium recommends budgeting $100,000 for <br />EmPOWERment to acquire a building in the Carr Court neighborhood. Staff does <br />not endorse the above outlined reallocation of funding as suggested by Mr. Presler. <br />4. EmPOWERment Inc., the Carr Court Neighborhood Association, the Northside <br />Neighborhood Association, the Pine Knolls Neighborhood Watch and the Lloyd <br />Street Association <br />EmPOWERment, Incorporated and the neighborhood associations requested $120,000 <br />of HOME Program funds for neighborhood revitalization activities in Orange County. <br />Staff Response: Last frscal year, 1998-99, approximately $210, 000 of HOME <br />Program funds were budgeted for neighborhood revitalization activities in Orange <br />County. Eligible activities for this program include property acquisition, <br />rehabilitation, and new construction of housing. Approximately $150, 000 of these <br />funds remains unspent, though a portion of these funds is reserved for families <br />living in the Northside neighborhood where house renovation is scheduled to be <br />completed this Spring. No additional funding for this program is recommended at <br />this time. <br />5. Orange Community Housing Corporation <br />The Orange Community Housing Corporation requested $230,000 of HOME <br />Program funds to construct a total of forty-eight town houses -fourteen on Scarlett <br />Drive ($70,000 and thirty-two in the Meadowmont development ($160,000)). <br />9 <br />
