3 <br />SECTION 2. SERVICES AND GOODS PROVIDED BY THE PI: <br />The PI will conduct the investigations in accordance with the objectives and work stages defined in <br />Section 1 (see also Appendix A. Project Abstract). All work will be consistent with the Secretary <br />of the Department of the Interior's standards and guidelines for archaeological projects. In <br />addition, the PI shall insure that any personnel employed for field or laboratory supervisors must <br />meet the professional qualifications criteria set forth by the National Park Service, Department of <br />the Interior, in 36 CFR Part 66 (Federal Register 42(19), 1977). <br />The PI shall prepare and submit reports to the Division in accordance with the following: <br />{1) Interim Resort. On or before July 1, 1999, the PI shall prepare and submit to the Local <br />Coordinator and Division abrief -Interim -report on the grant activities to date. The report shall <br />note any significant results or findings of the project, specific problems encountered during the <br />work recommendations or requests for any amendments to the terms of this agreement, and the <br />projected schedule for project completion if different from that defined by this agreement. <br />(2) Dratf Final Report. On or before August 15, 1999, the PI shall prepare and submit to the <br />Local Coordinator and Division a complete double-spaced draft report summarizing the analyses <br />and results. The report shall include but not be limited to the following: <br />(a) Abstract: containing sununary information on the objectives and results of the project. <br />(b) Introduction: inchuding sponsorship of the project, the fimdmg sources (with specific <br />reference to the U.S. Department of the Interior, the North Carolina Division of Archives <br />and History, and the Orange County Environment and Resource Conservation D.epartment), <br />project personnel, and project objectives. <br />{c) Bac ound: including a discussion of the background research conducted on the <br />archaeological and historical context of the project, as appropriate. This section should also <br />contain references to any professional or local consultations contributing to the background <br />research. <br />(d) Archaeological context development: including discussions of factors considered in <br />determining potential site locations and descriptions of pertinent prehistoric and historic <br />landscapes as well as associated themes, sites and landscape features. <br />(e) Field methods: including discussions of the reconnaissance survey methods, procedures <br />and results. <br />(f) Project results: including a research design for future archaeological investigation as well <br />as a regional context which can be used in dete*m~n~ng the potential National Register <br />eligibility of as yet unrecorded archaeological resources. <br />(g) Conclusions, evaluations, and recommendations: including a scope of work far future <br />archaeological survey and testing within the Saint Mary's Road Corridor. <br />
