New Civil Rights Specialist (Proposed New Permanent Full Time) <br />^ Conducts investigations and resolves charges of discrimination; <br />^ Initiates and conducts conciliation negotiations; <br />^ Assist with facilitation of countywide study circles (new activity); <br />^ Coordinate activities with Economic Development Department for Women's <br />Business Owners Roundtable Meetings; <br />^ Represent the Commission for Women in planning the regional Women's Business <br />Owners Roundtable Conference; <br />^ Identify issues and update brochures on issues affecting women in Orange . <br />Coup <br />^ Coordinate annual March Against Domestic Violence; <br />^ Coordinate four (4) -three session series of defense classes for women; <br />^ Update Report on the Status of Women Report in Orange County <br />^ Coordinate Women's History Month activities to include: at least 4 activities held <br />throughout the month hi ilighting• and promoting women in Orange Count <br />culminating in the annual Women's History Month celebration; <br />^ Coordinate and conduct two (2) Women's Advocacy Training Workshops; <br />^ Staff liaison to Commission for Woman. <br />5. ESL Coordinator (Existing Permanent Part Time 30 Hour) <br />^ Directs and oversees the English as a Second Language (ESL) programs including <br />one-on-one tutoring, small group tutoring, and tutoring to area businesses; <br />^ Develops and implements ESL workshops/training sessions; <br />^ Recruits and trains volunteers for tutor positions with the ESL program; <br />^ Work with a variety of community agencies and groups including Orange County <br />and Chapel Hill/Carrboro Schools, Durham Tech Community College, and the <br />Literacy Council to make and receive referral, provide volunteers and to publicize <br />ESL program; <br />
