The health <br />department contracts with the UNC Dental School for the services of a dental project director from <br />April through June, 1999. The dental project director works with the health department staffto <br />provide dental residents and dental hygienists from the UNC Dental School for the screening <br />sessions that aze held at all preschools and day caze homes that choose to participate. More than <br />2000 preschool children aze screened and referred for needed caze. Follow-up is provided to make <br />sure that those referred aze actually seen by a dentist. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: The contract is for $12,000 for the period April 1, 1999 through June 30, <br />1999. The contract is paid entirely by the Orange County Partnership for Young Children grant to <br />the Orange County Health Department. The county general fund that pays for health department <br />dental health staff to participate is used as an in-kind match for the grant funds. <br />RECOMMENDATON(S): The manager recommends the Boazd approve the contract and <br />authorize the chair to sign. <br />
