6 <br />ARTICLE 22 <br />DEFINITIONS <br />(c b) A "conservation-cluster" approach where lot sizes are reduced and <br />the land saved through such reductions is preserved as open <br />space on separate lots owned and maintained through a <br />homeowners association, anon-profit land conservancy or unit of <br />state of local government; or <br />STAFF NOTE: <br />THE AMENDED NAME, "CONSERVATION-CLUSTER", PRESERVES THE CONNOTATION OF <br />CONSERVATION. .EVEN THOUGH THE CURRENT CONSERVATION OPTION HAS DONE LITTLE TO <br />PRESERVE OR CONSERVE OPEN SPACE, THE PERCEPTION OF DELETING THE "CONSERVATION" <br />OPTION COULD BE THAT PROPOSED AMENDMENTS WOULD DELETE THE ONLY CONSERVATION <br />OPTION WHEN , IN FACT, ALL OPTIONS ARE DESIGNED FOR CONSERVATION PURPOSES. <br />ADDING THE LANGUAGE TO SPECIFY THAT OPEN SPACE MUST BE SEPARATE LOTS THAT ARE <br />NOT OWNED BY AN INDIVIDUAL PROPERTY OWNER, CLARIFIES THE OWNERSHIP OF THE OPEN <br />SPACE FOR THIS OPTION. <br />(d cJ A "village" or modified cluster approach where dwelling units are <br />clustered around a village green and supporting shops, and the <br />village is surrounded by open space; or <br />(e ~ Some combination of theabove <br />g :\may599\flexdev. not\5-13-99\kl <br />
