FEB. 12,1999 <br />TO: Neil Pedersen <br />Board of Education <br />FROM: McDougle Elementary School <br />RE: 10% Supplement Cap <br />We, the undersigned staff at McDougle Elementary, strongly <br />support the removal of the 10% supplement cap. Experienced employees who <br />are teaching in our system after having taught elsewhere should be put on the <br />same schedule as teachers who began their careers here. When the <br />supplement schedule was first implemented, the intent was to reward <br />teachers who remained in the system. Now the situation is very different. <br />To compete successfully with neighboring systems which now <br />offer higher beginning supplements; <br />To respect the dedication of those who have chosen to work here; <br />To value the years of experience which daily enrich our children; <br />We believe it is time to eliminate this glaring inequity.We urge the board to <br />remove the cap and restore affected teachers to their appropriate positions <br />on our supplement schedule. <br />
