:~n~ r , :~ A discussion ensued concerning the plane of the Town of Chapel Hill to ask for a tax levy of thirty cents ($.30¢) per one hundred dollar ($100.00) valuation, I4r, Gattis stated that he *,rsa not in the position to justify the request and that the matter would have to be pursued further with the Town of Chapel Hill. Discussion ensued. Commissioner Flora Garrett requested that tb.e County Administrator request the Town of Chapel Hi11 to have a representative present at the public hesrir_g that has bean scheduled on Tuesday, June 25, 19711. The County Administrator stated that he would relay.tris request to the Town Officials. Chairman Walker referred the Board to Item II on the Agenda: (A letter ~ from Dr, H, G, Fox petitioning the closing of SR #15511 from SR #1D02 North to sR #1555.) "Enclosed is & petition for the abandonment of a section of Secondary . Road 155!} from the Stat® maintained System as designated, The three property owners shown by signatures oan all of the property adjoining both aides of this section of the road, We respectfully ask your approval." Tha Board reviewed the request of Dr. H. G. Fo: for abandonment for road 'ASR 15511. It was agreed to refer the matter to the County Attorney for a 19ga1 opinion. 'The Clerk to the Board requested permission to matte a report on two road matters that involved drainage problems for the Chavia family and Mrs. Alice Wilkins. Upon motion o£ Commissioner Flora Garrett, seconded by Commissioner Henry S. j~7alker, it was moved, that the C1ork write to the Town of Hillsborough and request that the Town inveatigate the problem of the culvert thst is located on the old road that leads from 6b to the garbage dump. Commissioner Melvin Whitfield stated that there had been a number of complaints filed concerning the bridge that crosses University Lake. He stated that the bridge was narrow and some felt it was atructually not sound. The Glerk was -. requested to write the Board of Transportation acid request that they inspect the bridge in order to determine if it was atructually sound, Discussion ensued concerning the suggestion that had been made that the Board have a pre-budget conference for the purpose of discussing items that the Board felt should be included in the 197!}-1975 budget.
