Program Needs and Implications All activities are to contribute to the development of the child with a direct carry over of the educational system established during the regular nine months term. All activities and equipment.must be made safe. For fullest development, all recreational activities should include some form of balancing, bouncing, catching, throwing, climbing, 3umning, kicking, and running. Aa the participants ages become older, a higher degree of competitive activities will be included in the program. Activities should be stressed in the development of good social and emotional health. Egui~m®nt Needs In selecting equipment, two criteria stand out above all others: (1) the piece of equipment must contribute to the development of the child; (2) The equipment is safe. i ~ Equipment should help in the areas of physical fitness, physical skills, social _ competence and knowledge and understanding. Supervising teachers should have knowledge of all equipment and run programs with a minimum of actual "commercial" equipment.
