Agreement <br />Marti Pryor -Cook, Extension 2802 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough - 732 -8181 <br />Durham -688-7331 <br />Mebane -227-2031 <br />Chapel Hill - 967- 9251/9684501 <br />Purpose: To renew an Agreement between Orange County and UNC- Hospitals for three <br />(3) hospital based Medicaid Intake Caseworkers. <br />Background: Three full -time Medicaid Intake Caseworkers are stationed at UNC- <br />Hospitals to conduct interviews and initiate Medicaid applications, mainly for out of <br />county residents. This Agreement began in 1977 at the request of the Hospitals as a <br />means to increase collection rates for indigent patients. Since this arrangement is for the <br />benefit of UNC- Hospitals, the Agreement stipulates that 100% of all Orange County's <br />costs for these workers be reimbursed by the facility. The reimbursement includes salary, <br />benefits, indirect costs, 15% of the salary and benefits of a full -time DSS supervisor, and <br />any other necessary expense. <br />Fiscal Impact Statement: The County's share of all costs associated with these positions <br />is reimbursed by UNC- Hospitals. <br />Recommendation: The Manager recommends approval of the Agreement for Fiscal <br />Year 1999/2000 and authorization for the Chair to sign. <br />
