This item was first
presented at a September 30, 1997 meeting of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School Board,
Orange County School Board, and Board of County Commissioners and referred to the Schools
and Land Use Councils for future consideration.
The memorandum has received extensive review and comment since October 1998. At the
May 12, 1999 meeting of the joint Schools and Land Use Councils, it was the consensus of
members in attendance to refer the memorandum to their respective boards for consideration of
adoption.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: If adopted and implemented by all parties, the memorandum should lead
to cost efficiencies through the future development of various joint use facilities, rather than the
development by several jurisdictions of multiple facilities with similar purposes.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Administration recommends adoption of the Memorandum of
Agreement for Providing Coordinated Site and Facility Planning
