Agenda #Sa2 ~ Chapel Hill Public Library: Background Update (3/19/09) Page 1 of 1 <br />AGENDA #Sa2 <br />Chapel Hill Public Library: Background Update ~s~~9~o9> <br />• Chapel Hill Public Library's number of patrons and their use has been pretty <br />consistent: CH (55%); OC (41 %}; Other (4%). <br />• The number of materials being borrowed by non-Chapel Hill Orange County residents <br />is significant and rising: 364,433 out of 911,084 items in 2007-08. <br />• Orange County's contribution has remained at approximately the same level since <br />1995: $249, 333. <br />• Orange County's support is 10.6% of this year's total operating budget, while use is <br />40% for the same services Chapel Hill residents receive. <br />• Orange County supports two library systems: CHPL and Hyconeechee Regional <br />Library System. Orange County Public Library is the region's headquarters and its <br />director is also the director of the regional library. <br />• Last year, CHPL loaned 911,084 materials.
