Enclosure 1 <br />New Position and Other Staff Resources Discussion <br />At the June 8 work session, the Board discussed each of the recommended new positions in the <br />Manager's Recommended Budget, decided to approve seven of the new position requests and <br />decided to consider further three remaining new positions requests on June 15. These three new <br />positions are shown in Items 1, 2 and 3 below. In addition the Board asked staff to bring back <br />several staff resource related items for the Board's June 15 discussion. These are in Items 4 <br />through 8 below. <br />1. New EMT- Paramedic Position Net 99 -00 County Cost: $14,917 <br />Budget Appendix B, Pages 118 -10, B60 -61 <br />At the June 8 Budget Work Session, the Board decided to approve two of the three <br />recommended new EMT — Paramedic positions and to consider the recommended third <br />paramedic position at the June 15 meeting. <br />2. New Environmental Health Specialist Position Net 99 -00 County Cost: $54,942 <br />Budget Appendix B, Pages BII -12 and B64 <br />At the June 8 work session, the Board decided to revisit this position request on June 15. <br />3. New GIS Technician Position Net 99 -00 County Cost: $40,512 <br />Budget Appendix B, Pages B20 -21, B74 -75 <br />At the June 8 work session the Board decided to revisit this position request on June 15 and <br />requested additional information related to the position. This information is provided as <br />Attachment 1. <br />4. Expanded WTMP Program Net 99 -00 County Cost: $33,242 <br />Budget Appendix B, Page 56 <br />At the June 8 meeting, the Board discussed the plan to set aside a reserve to fund a new <br />environmental health educator position during 1999 -00 to support an expanded Wastewater <br />Treatment Management Program, if it is determined during 1999 -00 to establish that <br />position. The Board decided to reduce the reserve funding for the position to the amount that <br />would be required to.fimd the position beginning January 1, 2000 rather than October 1, <br />1999; that is a reduction of $14,975 from the $48,217 in the Manager's Recommended <br />Budget to $33,242. The Board also decided to explore the possibility of OWASA funding <br />for the position in lieu of County funding during the summer and fall of 1999. <br />The Board wished to revisit this item on June 15 for further discussion, as needed. <br />5. Increase in Hours for <br />Assistant to the Clerk Position <br />Net 99 -00 County Cost: $12,501 <br />At the June 8 meeting, the Commissioners requested information be brought back on June 15 <br />related to increasing the hours of the Assistant to the Clerk position in the Commissioners' <br />
