landfill in order that it might make money to underwrite recycling efforts is clearly a <br />ridiculous, zero -sum game. <br />If the commission elects not to stop the project immediately, there are a number <br />of requests the citizens in the area would like to make: <br />-- Provide us with maps of the project showing proposed entrances, interior roads, <br />proposed siting of the landfill itself, proposed sites for future expansion, and proposed <br />siting of the firing range. <br />-- Provide us with maps showing proposed transportation routes from various parts of <br />Orange County to the site. <br />-- Provide us with copies of the regulations governing what wastes are permitted to be <br />dumped into a C &D landfill. <br />- -Walk this property with some local neighbors so you can see for yourself some of the <br />problems we have raised here. (Wear plenty of bug repellant). <br />- -Set a time for a public hearing on this project. Such a meeting should be held well after <br />our citizen's of all requested information, and it should be held near the proposed site. <br />- -Ask for input from the Durham County government. <br />
