29 <br /> Attachment 6D <br /> Draft Personnel Ordinance Revision <br /> Article IV, new 9.4, Supplemental Retirement [401(k) Plan] Contribution <br /> (Changes Marked in Bold Type) <br /> New Section 9.4 added to Existing Section 9.0 Retirement <br /> 9.4 Supplemental Retirement [401(k) Plan Contribution <br /> 9.4.1 Effective July 1, 1999 Orange County makes a Supplemental <br /> Retirement [401(k) Plan] contribution of $15 per pay period for <br /> each eligible employee. <br /> 9.4.2 For this purpose, eligible employees are County employees both <br /> full time and part time (regularly scheduled at least 20 hours each <br /> workweek) appointed to permanent positions who are members of <br /> the N. C. Local Government Employees' Retirement System and <br /> who are not sworn law enforcement officers. See Section 9.5 for <br /> additional retirement benefits for Law Enforcement Officers. <br /> 9.4.3 To participate an eligible employee completes the appropriate <br /> enrollment form. <br /> 9.4.4 Coverage is effective with the date of appointment to the <br /> permanent position and enrollment in the retirement system. <br /> Contributions are suspended for any pay period in which the <br /> employee is in leave without pay status for that pay period. At <br /> termination,the County's 401(k) contribution ends. <br /> To allow the above new Section to be included in the existing Section 9.0 "Retirement," <br /> the following updating and renumbering of existing sections 9.3 and 9.4 is included <br /> here. <br /> Delete the following Section 9.3 —Under the Age Discrimination in Employment <br /> Act,Orange County may not require a mandatory retirement age. <br /> 9.3 <br /> ' — <br /> Renumber the following Section 9.4 to be 9.3 with no other change: <br /> 9.33.4 Tax Sheltering of Retirement Contributions <br /> Effective July 1, 1982, Orange County elected a method of tax sheltering of <br /> member contributions to the North Carolina Local Government Employees <br />
