If the employee's <br /> WPPR Review Date falls on the pay period beginning date, the <br /> Meritorious Service Award is effective on that pay period beginning date- <br /> 8.5 Department Head Recommendation and Manager Approval Pfesess <br /> For either the Exceptional or Superior Meritorious Service Award, the <br /> department head submits a written recommendation with documentation <br /> of the accomplishments to be recognized to the County Manager. <br /> The County Manager's advance written approval is required before any <br /> Meritorious Service Award may be granted. <br /> 8.6 Criteria for the Award <br /> To receive an Exceptional Meritorious Service Award, the employee's <br /> overall work performance must meet the WPPR Performance Rating <br /> definition for Exceptional. <br /> To receive a Superior Meritorious Service Award, the employee must <br /> achieve an overall work performance rating of Proficient and, in <br /> addition, have.specific work accomplishments that warrant a Meritorious <br /> Service Award. Such accomplishments may include the following: <br /> • Cost saving outcomes <br /> • Innovative approaches to service delivery <br />
