FY 2009-10 <br /> Departmental Budget Summary <br /> Department Housing and Community Development <br /> 2008-2009 Performance Highlights <br /> • An average of 620 low-income families received rental assistance monthly <br /> under the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, The current <br /> waiting list for voucher subsidies is 1,379. <br /> 9 Twenty (20) homes owned and occupied by low-income elderly and/or <br /> disabled households were repaired under the Urgent Repair Program <br /> 9 Three (3) substandard homes owned and occupied by low-income families <br /> were repaired to standard condition. <br /> o Fourteen (14) first-time homebuyers received second mortgage <br /> assistance to enabled them to obtain affordable private first mortgages. <br /> o Impact fee reimbursements were provided for 12 newly constructed <br /> homes for low/moderate income first-time homebuyers. <br /> 2009-2010 BUdget Impacts <br /> 9 Reductions in the Urgent Repair Program will prevent one less <br /> elderly/disabled homeowner from receiving urgent repairs. <br /> O Federal funding for the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program and <br /> the HOME Investment Partnership Program is expected to remain <br /> constant in the next fiscal year. No new funds will be available for these <br /> programs from the recently passed Federal Stimulus Bill., <br /> • The Stimulus Bill does provide the State of NC approximately $15 million <br /> in additional Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for <br /> small cities and counties in the state. There is no news regarding how the <br /> State plans to allocate those funds. Traditionally, CDBG funds have been <br /> the revenue source for the County's housing rehabilitation programs. <br /> 51 <br />
