The Town pays the County for
performance of those inspections against invoices prepared in accordance with the County's fee
schedule for fire inspection.
The Town has the ability to perform Level I Fire Inspections that are the majority of the
inspections in the Town. The approximate total number of Level I facilities is 355 (three
hundred fifty five) and the approximate combined total number of Level II and II facilities is 89
(eighty-nine). The Town Inspector has achieved a probationary Level II certification, and
County Staff continues to work with the inspector in achieving permanent certification. The
State Building Code Council requires certain levels of experience in Level II inspections before
it will grant permanent Level II certification, so it is possible that the Town may continue to
require County assistance with these inspections for several more years.
The agreement with the Town is for the County to continue performing Level II and Level III
Fire Inspections, as well as retaining inspection authority for county owned facilities, schools,
Department of Social Services facilities, and continue participating in and approving building
plans, as part of the County's Plans Review process. This agreement has worked well over the
past few years.
