ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: March 17, 2009 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. J <br /> SUBJECT: Notice of Public Hearing on Orange County's 2009 Legislative Agenda <br /> DEPARTMENT: County Commissioners PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> Commissioner Valerie Foushee <br /> Commissioner Barry Jacobs <br /> PURPOSE: To provide notice of the Board of County Commissioners' plans to hold a public <br /> hearing on April 7, 2009 on potential items for inclusion in Orange County's legislative agenda <br /> package for the 2009 North Carolina General Assembly Session. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Board of County Commissioners is asked to schedule a public hearing <br /> during its regular meeting on Monday, April 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Central Orange Senior <br /> Center at 103 Meadowlands Drive in Hillsborough, North Carolina. The purpose of the public <br /> hearing will be to receive public comments on potential items for inclusion in Orange County's <br /> legislative agenda package for the 2009 North Carolina General Assembly Session. <br /> The County's Legislative Issues Work Group consisting of Commissioner Valerie Foushee, <br /> Commissioner Barry Jacobs, and County staff is reviewing items for possible inclusion in <br /> Orange County's legislative package. Information on the proposed items will be provided to the <br /> BOCC and others prior to the April 7 meeting. <br /> It should also be noted that the Clerk to the Board has scheduled a joint legislative breakfast for <br /> the BOCC and Orange County's legislative delegation for April 20, 2009. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: Any funds necessary to provide the public notice are included in the <br /> Clerk to the Board's budget for the current year. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board direct the Clerk to the Board <br /> and the County Manager to publish a notice of the Board's intent to hold a public hearing during <br /> its regular meeting on April 7, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Central Orange Senior Center at 103 <br /> Meadowlands Drive in Hillsborough, North Carolina to receive public comments on potential <br /> items for inclusion in Orange County's legislative agenda package for the 2009 North Carolina <br /> General Assembly Session. <br />
