_~~~ IdTNUTES OF THE ORANGS COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />November 5, 1973 <br />The Board of County Commissioners of Orange County met in regular session <br />on Monday, November s, 1973, at 10 o~cloak A, M, in the Conference Room of the <br />Social Services Building in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Members Present: Chairman Norman Walker and Commissioners Henry ~. Walker, <br />Flora Garrett, Richard E. Whiffed and Melvin Whitfield. <br />Members Absent: None. <br />The Board agreed to dispense with the reading of the minutes. <br />Tha Chairman stated that the Board would take up item four ()}) of the agenda <br />due to the fact that those items listed first could not be taken up as the <br />individuals were not present. <br />The Chairman recognized Clayton Haithcock, County Zoning Officer. Mr, <br />Haitheoak stated that the County Planning Board had approved the following plats: <br />1, Property of David Walker dated 4/15/72, 3 acres in Dne Township. <br />Upon motion of Commisaianer Henry 5. Walker, seconded by Commissioner Flora <br />Garrett, it was moved and adopted that said plat be approved. <br />2. Property of Florida MoMannen dated 1/12/72 designated as Lot 2 <br />containing 2 aaeas in Fho Township. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Richard E. Whitted, seconded by Commissioner <br />Melvin Whitfield, it was moved and adopted that said plat be approved, <br />3. Property of Lee Thomas Wilson, dated 8/1$/72 containing 1.04 acres in <br />Eho Township. Discussion ensued concerning plate that contained <br />property that includod road right of way as part of the 'required Footage. <br />It wsa pointed out that the majority of the property lines were <br />established by running the lines from the center of a road. The County <br />Attorney advised the Board as to the wording of the current ordinance and <br />how,it related to this matter. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry S. Walker, seconded by Commissioner Melvin <br />Whitfield, it was moved and 'adopted, that said plat be approved. <br />4. Property of Miller Road Development Club dated 6/5/71 cantairiirig 2,18 acres <br />in Eno Township. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Richard E. Whitted, seconded by Commissioner <br />Melvin Whitfield, if was moved and adopted, that said plat be approved. <br />Mr, Haithcock stated that he wished fo present the re-zoning request that had <br />been made by Curtis and Dorothy Bane to re-zone 6,019 acres in Eno Township from <br />a residential area fo a general commercial area, NIT. Haithcock advised the Board <br />that the County Planning Board had approved the request to rezone. Tha Zoning <br />Officer presented a plat of the area that was covered by the re-zoning request. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Henry S, Walker, seconded by Commissioner Flora <br />Garrett, it was moved and adapted, that the ra-zoning request of Curtis and Dorothy <br />Bono to .re-zone 6.019 acres in Eho Township from a residertia'_ area to a general <br />commercial area be approved, <br />Mr, Haithcock stated that the County Planning Board had received a re-zoning <br />request from T,oekridge Community to re-zone fifty (50) acres in Chanel Hill Township <br />from a residential area to a planned unit development area. A map was presented to <br />the Board. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Flora Garrett, seconded by Commissioner Richard E. <br />Whi.tted, it was moved and adopted that the reaueat of Lockridge Community from a <br />residential area to a planned unit development area be approved. <br />Mr. Haithcock presented the following petition which had been signed by <br />thirty-six (36) persons: <br />"A petition to the Orange County Board of County Commissioners and the <br />Orange County Planning Board, <br />Iv e, the undersigned reaider_ts of Flo and Chapel Hill Towaships of Orange <br />County, believing that the sound and harmonious development of Orange County <br />and the protection of the present and fusure enjoyment of the county by all <br />residents requires further restrictions on the development of mobile home <br />parks and the uae of mobile homes in areas other than parka in Orange County <br /> <br />
