KEUNG HUt <br />STAFF WRITER <br />RALEIGH <br />tghteen years ago, Morgan <br />Poteat was another one of <br />Ethose scared but brave <br />children being comforted on <br />their first day in kindergarten <br />by a kind and caring teacher. <br />On Monday, Poteat returned to <br />that same classroom at Alden <br />Root Elementary School in North <br />Raleigh, but now as a 23 year-old <br />rookie teacher for a new genera- <br />tion of kindergarten students. <br />So while more than 100,000 <br />students in Wake and Johnston <br />counties experienced what offi- <br />cials described as a normal <br />school opening, it was anything <br />but that for Poteat. <br />"When I came here for kinder- <br />garten, Iwas crying," Poteat <br />recalled.
