Fikes, ext. 2490 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBERS: <br />Hillsborough <br />732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill <br />9684501 <br />Durham <br />688 -7331 <br />Mebane <br />336- 227 -2031 <br />PURPOSE: <br />To award one housing rehabilitation contract for the HOME Housing Rehabilitation Program. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids from qualified housing <br />rehabilitation contractors participating in the County's Housing Rehabilitation Program. Sealed bids were <br />solicited from participating contractors on June 29, 1999. The informal bidding process is governed by <br />the North Carolina General Statues §143 -131 and does not require a minimum number of bids. Bid <br />results are attached. Present program procedures provide that housing rehabilitation contracts be awarded <br />to the lowest responsible bidder. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Funding for this program is provided by the HOME Investment Partnership Program. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): <br />The Manager recommends awarding the following housing rehabilitation contract: <br />Dwelling Unit Bid Amount Contractor <br />Jones —114 Eugene St., Carrboro $33,989 <br />Diamond Builders, Inc. <br />
