Passmore, ext. 2000 <br />TELEPHONE NUMBER <br />Hillsborough 732-8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br />Mebane 227-2031 <br />Durham 688-7331 <br />----------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />PURPOSE: <br />The purpose of this Agreement is to receive $47,500 from the University <br />of North Carolina (UNC) Hospitals for their co-sponsorship of the <br />Department on Aging`s Senior Wellness Program. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In 1994 the Friends of the Chapel Hill Senior Center received funding <br />to implement a Wellness Program at each of the Orange County Senior <br />Centers and rura_1 community centers. This three year project, funded <br />by the Kate B. Reynolds Foundation, ended June 30, 1997. Due to the <br />success of the Program, UNC Hospitals proposed to fund the Wellness <br />Coordinator position through contractual agreement with Orange County. <br />This will maintain existing programs and assist in implementing new <br />programs to promote the health and well being of seniors in the County. <br />The United Way will also continue to provide operating expense support <br />for this public/private partnership. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />UNC Hospitals will reimburse Orange County up to $47,500 for the salary <br />and fringe benefits for the permanent, full-time Senior Public Health <br />
